In today's data-driven world, the ability to analyse data and translate it into clear, impactful visuals is essential. The Quantitative Data Analysis and Visualisation workshop provides participants with the skills to transform raw data into actionable knowledge using MS Excel and Stata.
By mastering these powerful tools, participants will be able to make data-informed decisions and confidently present their findings to any audience.
Objective
This Data Analysis and Visualization workshop equips participants with the skills to transform raw data into actionable knowledge, through the following objectives:
- Fundamental data analysis concepts: Understand key statistical measures, data cleaning techniques, and exploratory data analysis methods.
- Manipulate data with MS Excel: Learn to import, clean, organize, and manipulate data using essential Excel functions and tools.
- Conduct statistical analysis with Stata: Gain proficiency in using Stata for hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and other statistical procedures.
- Craft data visualizations: Master the art of creating charts and graphs in Excel and Stata that effectively communicate insights.
- Develop a data-driven decision-making approach: Learn to translate data analysis results into actionable recommendations and present findings with clarity and persuasion.
Workshop Overview
Day 1: MS Excel for Data Analysis and Visualisation
Day 1 introduces participants to manage and analyse data effectively using MS Excel, focusing on the powerful tools of PivotTables and PivotCharts. MS Excel is a versatile and accessible option for transforming raw data, summarizing key findings, and creating compelling visualisations – all with a basic understanding of the software.
Day 2: Stata for Data Visualisation
Day 2 introduces participants to Stata, focusing on communicating complex information with clarity using Stata. Master essential graph types from histograms to line graphs, explore advanced techniques like overlaying plots, and unlock deeper patterns within your data.
Day 3 & 4: Basic Data Analysis using STATA
Day 3 and 4 provides participants with a primer to basic data analysis using Stata. More specifically, participants will learn statistical modelling using survey data and macro-economic data. This hands-on workshop ensures participants can analyse real-world data.
