International Symposium on “Building China-Brunei Strategic Partnership: Opportunities and Paths for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”

Dr Koh Wee Chian, CSPS Head of Economics and Finance, participated in the International Symposium on “Building China-Brunei Strategic Partnership: Opportunities and Paths for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” on September 17, 2022. The event was co-organized by the South China Normal University and Guangdong International Cultural Exchange Center.

Dr Koh discussed recent macroeconomic developments in Brunei and suggested potential areas for more engaging Brunei-China cooperation. These include food (rice planting technology, aquaculture investment and trade), tourism (nature, cultural, education, sports), ICT (e-payment infrastructure, smart city initiatives), public health surveillance (information sharing, technical cooperation), clean energy (electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, large-scale solar photovoltaic), and climate change (research, modeling).
