AITI, CSPS ink MoU

September 29, 2020

The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS) for collaboration in digital industry development policy and strategy formulation. The MoU serves as a general framework for collaboration between AITI and CSPS to identify possible projects and other mutually beneficial initiatives.

Both AITI and CSPS agree that this collaboration effort will deepen their existing relations by leveraging on each other’s expertise and insights that could potentially provide opportunities for the formulation of strategic policies in the field of information and communication technology (ICT).

Under the umbrella of this MoU, the two agencies subsequently inked an agreement to embark on an ICT Market Study project, which aims to identify and prioritise potential new growth in the digital industry segments.

The MoU and project agreement were signed by AITI Acting Chief Executive Haji Jailani bin Haji Buntar and Permanent Secretary (Vision, Finance and Cabinet) at the Prime Minister’s Office in her capacity as Acting Executive Director of CSPS Pengiran Hajah Siti Nirmala binti Pengiran Haji Mohammad. Also signing as witnesses were AITI Deputy Chief Executive (Development)Julianah binti Haji Ali Ahmad and CSPS Chief Researcher Dr Diana Cheong.

The event took place at the AITI office in Kampong Anggerek Desa and was attended by senior officials of AITI and CSPS.

The project agreement signing marked the commencement of the ICT Market Study by AITI and CSPS for the most viable and promising digital industry segments in alignment with Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0) and realising the Smart Nation vision of Brunei Darussalam.
