August 24, 2019

The Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS) recently held its Strategic Planning Practitioner Competency Certification Workshop.

According to a press release, the executive development workshop was attended by a total of 32 participants coming from the private sector and Government institutions including the Internal Security Department, Insurans Islam TAIB, Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance and Economy, Ministry of Religious Affairs, and various other government ministries and departments.

All the participants previously attended CSPS’ Workshop on Strategic Foresight and Strategic Planning, which was held in June 2019.

The press release noted that following the workshop in June, participants worked independently on formulating a strategic plan using strategic foresight perspectives as an added dimension. Their strategic Plans were then used as case studies in this week’s workshop.

The Strategic Planning Practitioner Competency Certification Workshop was facilitated by CSPS and CSPS Visiting Fellow from Singapore Stephen Lin.

The workshop focussed on the practical and the more detailed aspects of strategic planning and the participants were able to share their experiences and draw lessons from their strategic planning case studies under the guidance of Haines Strategic Planning experts.

Throughout the workshop, participants presented, obtained feedback and further improved their strategic plans. Participants also strengthened their competency in using the Haines ABC Model of Strategic Management through numerous group exercises.

The workshop received overwhelmingly positive comments, with participants commending the expertise of the facilitators and their helpfulness in providing feedback for their strategic plans.
