Focus on Strategic Planning at CSPS Workshop

The Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS) conducted a customised workshop on Strategic Planning using Systems Thinking for over 60 officers from Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD) recently.

The workshop aimed to provide a basic review of the main steps of strategic planning so that all units in AMBD can proceed to formulate their respective strategic plans. Leveraging on CSPS’ expertise in public policy, the workshop was built on the recent three-day CSPS flagship training programme on Strategic Planning and Strategic Foresight attended by senior officers from various government ministries and agencies, including 12 from AMBD.

Present at the opening was Managing Director of AMBD, Yusof bin Haji Abdul Rahman, who highlighted the importance of developing staff capacity and transformational leadership to anticipate and embrace changes.

Chief Researcher of CSPS, Dr Diana Cheong, in her overview of the event, expressed gratitude to AMBD for entrusting CSPS to conduct the one-day workshop. She commended AMBD on this bold and positive endeavour to institutionalise strategic planning across all its units and to initiate each unit to formulate their own respective strategic plans as this also encourages buy in from all and practical relevance.

The trainers for the workshop were CSPS’s Dr Diana Cheong, Dr Sophiana Chua, and Yuzilawati Abdullah who are all certified trainers in the Systems Thinking Approach to Strategic Management by Haines Centre for Strategic Management.
