Strategic Planning Workshop Leaves 37 on Better Footing

September 30, 2017

CERTIFICATES were awarded to 37 participants who completed the intensive four-day strategic planning workshop as part of the Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS) Executive Development Workshop Series in Strategic Foresight and Strategic Planning.

Chief Researcher Dr Diana Cheong and International Affairs Head Dr Norhabibah Khamis presented the certificates to the participants.

After completing a three-day workshop on Strategic Foresight and Horizon Scanning in August, the participants were trained to use the 10-step Strategic Management process of the Systems Thinking Model in this second workshop.

Participants comprised senior officers from the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Education, Royal Brunei Police Force, Royal Brunei Navy and Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam.

According to Dr Diana, CSPS has devised a unique approach to Strategic Planning in that the backwards Systems Thinking approach is used in conjunction with Strategic Foresight, where the preferred future is envisioned and systematically studied first before working backwards towards developing appropriate strategies.
