Following the success of the early workshops, the Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS) will be holding a second round of its Executive Development Workshop Series in Strategic Foresight and Strategic Planning.
The workshops incorporate the emerging fields of Strategic Foresight and Horizon Scanning as a major dimension in Strategic Planning. This centre’s special brand of Strategic Planning also adopts Systems Thinking and Narrative approaches to understanding and managing change. The workshops will assist participants to facilitate the realisation of their preferred futures.
There will be three optional workshops – Strategic Foresight and Horizon Scanning, Strategic Planning Using Systems Thinking, and Action Learning and Evaluation. The workshops will be conducted from May to October. Participants will also undertake an applied project spanning two months between the second and third workshop. The workshops will be facilitated by international and local experts in Strategic Foresight, Horizon Scanning and Strategic Planning: Dr Jose Ramos, Action Foresight, Australia; Stephen Lin, Haines Centre for Strategic Management, Singapore; and CSPS Dr Diana Cheong, Dr Ivana Milojevic, Dr Sophiana Chua Abdullah and Yuzilawati Abdullah. These highly skilled and certified facilitators offer both local and international perspectives and bring with them proven track records of working with governments and businesses in Brunei Darussalam and around the world.Using an interactive and action-learning approach, the workshop will provide participants with techniques that will optimise their ability to understand the impact of the external environment and to clarify visions and preferred futures for their organisations. Participants will then use the 10-step Systems Planning Model to prepare strategic action plans and learn how to drive implementation and transformation. A major strength of this methodology is how the vision, mission and core values can be translated into key performance indicators and strategic priorities and cascaded to every level of the organisation, down to the individual level.
In a two-month applied project period that follows, participants will have the opportunity to execute their action plans to revamp the strategic plans of their respective organisations. The workshop series will conclude with participants sharing their experiences and lessons learned from the implementation of their action plans and receiving professional evaluations of their strategic plans.
Upon completion, participants will be awarded certificate of competence by CSPS and Haines Centre for Strategic Management – Asia.
CSPS welcomes CEOs, managers, policymakers from both government and private sectors to join this executive workshop series and be part of a journey to become an expert in systems strategic planning and to achieve competency in the use of future methodologies and horizon scanning for organisational transformation.
