Dr Diana P. P. Cheong

As the Senior Researcher for the Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS), Dr Cheong is responsible for the planning, preparation and implementation of research, consultancy and analytical work undertaken by CSPS. Dr Cheong's current engagement at CSPS to date includes the successful commission of three ongoing macro level studies; a nationwide feasibility study into alternative energy, a roadmap for energy efficiency and conservation (EEC), an, a land optimization strategy for industrial growth for Brunei. Seconded from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) where she was a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Business, Economics and Policy Studies, Dr Cheong was previously also the University's Director of the Institute for Leadership, Innovation and Advancement. She specialized in Sociology and Economic Development, Public Policy and Research Methods. Dr Cheong is also a qualified Barrister at law (Lincolns Inn and Brunei Supreme Court) and has published in the areas of Constitutional & Administrative Law. her pioneering research work in Brunei in the areas of Crime & Delinquency, Poverty, Unemployment, Youth Development and Social Problems. She has also served for substantial periods at UBD as the Dean for Research and Postgraduate Studies and as the Director of the International Office. Prior to joining UBD, she worked for Manchester City Council (UK), the Narcotics Control Bureau (Brunei) and Y C Lee Advocates & Solicitor (Brunei).
