Improving Brunei's Bus Transport System: the Case for Subsidizing Public Transport (2017)

This is another sub paper by CSPS as commissioned by Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) to develop an efficient Bus Transportation System.

The paper outlines six initiatives to develop an efficient, reliable, and safe public bus transport system. These initiatives require government financing of around B$33 million for the first three years, and is projected to be $12 million per year from year 2020 onwards. Factoring in positive externalities from an improved public transport system (e.g. alleviating congestion, reducing emissions and traffic-related injuries, increasing mobility, stimulating economic development, etc.), the net economic cost is $8 million per year.

The paper has been recently submitted together with the blueprint to MTIC and to the National Committee of Public Transportation.
