Here are some of the testimonials from our past interns:
| Hanisah Azah Hj Abu Bakar Undergraduate Economics and International Development, University of Bath, United Kingdom | ||

This gave me a first-hand look at all the extensive research that was done by world-class economic experts on Brunei's economy. Aside from that, I was also able to get a glimpse on the life of a research project officer. This included accompanying the researchers from Mitsubishi Research Institute to undertake their survey on Energy Efficiency at various local companies. From this experience, I was not only able to witness how a national research takes place in real life but I even got to meet up with a number of people from different backgrounds, ranging from engineers to directors! In short, my first internship experience has been pretty insightful and informative. This, added with all the wonderful people I met at the Centre has made my first summer internship an unforgettable experience. Thank you CSPS!"

![]() | "It has been a very good experience for me as it has exposed me to the real world of policy research in Brunei Darussalam. It deepened my understanding on the importance of looking at social issues in a wider perspective and the need to take into account a wide range of issues. It also allowed me to better understand the theoretical concepts in practice and the limitations of those theories with regards to their practical application in the context of Brunei Darussalam. I have gained two distinctive perspectives; CSPS provided the perspective of practical policy oriented research while the University provided the perspective of academic oriented research." | Ahmad Lutfi Hj Abdul Razak PhD Economics candidate, University of Warwick, United Kingdom |
![]() | "During my time with CSPS, I was tasked with writing up a proposal on the 'ease of doing business' and was part of a team that analyzed manpower projections in Brunei Darussalam. The latter culminated in a presentation by Dato Chair at a closed door SUT forum, and being involved was without a doubt the highlight of my internship. I also learnt more about the other stages involved in the research process. This included discussions with an online survey software provider, meeting up with various data providers and policymakers, as well as attending a forum to discuss the Inception Report on Alternative Energy by Canadian consultants, PowerTech Lab with stakeholders from the government and the private sector. As a research student, I found the experience to be invaluable towards my own development as I was given a unique exposure into the challenges and opportunities of academic and policy research in Brunei Darussalam. With friendly and helpful staff providing a conducive working environment, it was also very enjoyable."
